Meet Melissa (She/Her)

Sylva, NC is home, and I’m grateful to serve the community that helped raise me. I live here with my partner, our two kids, and a lively crew of pets — a cat, dog, and flock of chickens!

Outside of work, I love diving into board games, RPGs, and video games. MTG Commander, Dungeons & Dragons, Pokémon TCG, Animal Crossing, and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are some of my favorites. I’m happiest exploring WNC’s beautiful trails and waterfalls, traveling on road trips, joining local community events, or creating through art, photography, crafts, gardening, and baking.

My own mental health journey — learning to reconnect mind and body — inspires the work I do. I value shared experience, authenticity, and education as a way to truly connect with clients.

I earned my Master of Social Work from WCU in 2020 and have since supported children, adolescents, and their caregivers through life’s transitions. The pandemic brought anxiety, grief, and identity shifts for so many, reminding us how challenging rediscovery can be during times of change — whether navigating loss, shifts in family roles, school transitions, career changes, or new beginnings.

I specialize in perinatal mental health because my own pregnancies were beautiful, chaotic, and transformative. Parenthood continues to shape me and deepen my passion for helping others through similar journeys — building strength, hope, and resilience through every stage of life and every role we hold.

I love witnessing growth — seeing people discover their strengths, reconnect with self-love, and strengthen relationships. I am LGBTQIA-affirming, poly/kink-friendly, and currently training in sex therapy to better support all aspects of sexual wellness and intimacy.

Wherever you are in your story, I’m here to help you navigate the transition and move forward with confidence.
